
Mary Frances Wahlberg, age 77 of Troy, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at her residence. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Covenant Lutheran Church with Rev. Heath Abel officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Mrs. Wahlberg was born on December 26, 1935 in Houston, Texas to the late Damion J. Blakeway and Frances Mozelle Plumb Crossman. She attended schools in Houston, was a member of the Scottish Brigade of Austin High School in Houston and graduated from Austin High School in Houston in 1954. She married Richard Sinclair Wahlberg on November 23, 1955 in Houston. Mary studied business at the University of Houston. She worked for Sears in Houston and later was a medical secretary at a medical office in Houston. Mary was the executive secretary to the president of Big 3 Industries in Houston before moving to Temple where she was the plant manager's secretary for the Temple Coca Cola Bottling Company. She later worked for Tarco of Texas Roofing in Belton and G.A.P. Roofing in McGregor, retiring in 2008. Mary was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church in Temple and the SPJST Fraternal Organization, serving as youth leader of Lodge 88 in Houston. Mary loved shopping, dancing, driving her luxury cars and watching her son race his cars. She cooked the best gumbo in the South. Mary's grandchildren were the love of her life! She was preceded in death by her mother and step father. Survivors include her husband, Richard S. Wahlberg of Troy; a daughter, Mary Lynn Simmons and husband Lee of Belton; a son, Mark Wahlberg and wife Sherry Staudinger of Troy; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
