Mary Ruth McKnight

Mary Ruth McKnight, age 90, of Temple died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 7 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Trey Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. McKnight was born January 17, 1918 in Fulton, Mississippi to James W. and Tempe (Strange) Wigginton. She was reared and educated in the Blevins community. She was employed as a manager in food service with Whirlpool in Fort Smith, Arkansas for nine years before her retirement. She had been a resident of Temple over 25 years. She was a member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson, Billy Don Grimes. Survivors include her husband, Edward L. McKnight of Temple, two sons, Doug Grimes and wife, Myra of Midland, Don Grimes and wife, Beulah of Minden, Louisiana and one stepdaughter, Carole Young and husband, Ralph of Temple. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and one brother, Billy F. Wigginton and wife, Sandy of Arlington. Memorials may be made to Canyon Creek Baptist Church – Building Fund.
