
Mrs. Melba Johnson, 80 of Temple died Wednesday August 27, 2008 in a Temple hospital. Services for Mrs. Johnson will be at 10:00AM Saturday August 30, 2008 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple with Rev. John Witte and Rev. Eddie Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Johnson was born October 20, 1927 in the Cego Community the daughter of Joseph F. and Verdie Wright Hardcastle. She married Raymond Johnson April 14, 1947 in Marlin. She moved from Marlin to Temple in 1947. She started her own beauty shop in 1961 the Park Avenue Beauty Shop and retired in 2000. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church for many years before joining Immanuel Baptist Church in 1976. While a member of Immanuel Baptist Church she was active in many areas of the church but she spent nearly all of her years at the church in the church nursery. She spent her life working with her family her church and her beauty shop. She is survived by her husband Raymond Johnson of Temple her son Melvin Johnson and wife Beki of Temple her daughter Ramalou Prince and husband Tim of Weatherford. She is also survived by a sister Bobbie Hopkins of Ft. Worth and a brother Johnny Hardcastle of Leander. Also surviving are eight grandchildren Phillip Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Whitney Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Kyle Prince, Emily Prince, Alan Prince, and Travis Prince. Mrs. Johnson had two great grandchildren Landyn Johnson and Conner Johnson. A family visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM Friday August 29, 2008 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. The family requests that memorials be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Nursery 1402 West Avenue A Temple, Texas 76504. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple is in charge of arrangements.
