Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.
Oleta was born January 23, 1934, in Grayson County, Texas, to Willie Robert and Lois Elmer (Harvell) Killgo. Oleta grew up in Pilot Point, Texas, where she graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1951. She later attended business school in Fort Worth. Early in her career, she worked as a bookkeeper at The First State Bank in Grapevine and later held several accounting and administrative positions with Morton Foods in Fort Worth.
On December 7, 1957, she married Clifford S. O’Neil in Pilot Point, Texas. As an Air Force wife, Oleta lived in numerous places throughout the United States and abroad, including France and Belgium. During this time, she was active in the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Wives Club and served as an honorary chaplain.
Oleta was an avid golfer and longtime member of several golf associations, including the Women’s Leon Valley Golf Association, Sammons Golf Association, and the Central Texas Golf Association. She was also a member for more than 25 years of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does #139. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels, crossword puzzles, and spending time caring for and doting on her grandchildren of all ages, and beloved grand dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford S. O’Neil of Temple; daughters, Cathy Barnes and husband Mark of Granbury, and Christine Lancaster and husband Felix of Temple; daughter in law Cathy Ann O’Neil; sister, Betty Jones Bridges of Pilot Point; grandchildren, Scott Barnes, Sarah Bogart, Joshua Barnes, Jenny Lancaster, Brian O’Neil, and Clifford William “CW” O’Neil; great-grandchildren, Dakota Reyes, Ben Bogart, William Gabbert, Asher Barnes, Ethan Bogart, Connor Barnes, and Kinley Barnes; and great-great-grandchildren, Maddie Reyes, Charlie Reyes, and Walker Bogart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert O’Neil; and her brothers, Billy James Killgo and John William “JW” Killgo.
Pallbearers will be Mark Barnes, Felix Lancaster, Scott Barnes, Nick Bogart, Joshua Barnes, and Ben Bogart. Honorary pallbearers will be Asher Barnes, Ethan Bogart, and Connor Barnes.
