Otis Beck

A Mass of Christian Burial for Otis Beck, 82, of Little River-Academy will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery. Mr. Beck died Saturday in a Temple hospital. Mr. Beck was born January 28, 1936 in Oenaville to Henry Beck and Irene Witcher Beck.  He graduated from Temple High School.  He married Jackie Burnett June 24, 1967.  She preceded him in death November 7, 2008.  He moved to Little River Academy, from Temple, about fifty years ago.  He worked for Temple Tag Company for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, SPJST Lodge 177, where he was a charter member and current President, served on the Little River Academy City Council, Bell County Sportsman Club and RVOS.  He played with several area bands Otis Beck and the Melody Five; Otis Beck and The Best Yet and with Slim Haisler and Jerry Haisler.  Survivors include three sons Rick Beck and his wife Marcie of Moffat, Terrell Beck and his wife Sherry of Morgan’s Point and Kevin Beck of Temple; two daughters Deborah Dunning and her husband Anthony of Temple and Shelly Fowler and her husband Dennis of Morgan’s Point; one sister Nell Thomas of Killeen; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.Memorials may be made to SPJST Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
