Born in Temple, Texas on August 21, 1929, Patsy Cox Hinkle was the daughter to Charles S. Cox, Jr. and Ferol Cheeves Cox. She graduated from Temple High School in 1947, and ventured to Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated in 1949 from the prestigious Ward-Belmont School for Women. Her aspiration for knowledge drew her to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and she completed another degree, graduating in 1951. On July 3, 1954, Patsy married her husband, Edward A. Hinkle. They began their married life in Texas City, Texas, on the Gulf Coast. In this deep water port city, they began their family having a boy and a girl, Charlie and Ferol. However, not to be on the coast for long, Temple called them back and they set down roots and raised their children amongst family and friends. Patsy loved her hometown and her family's ranch. She enjoyed spending free time and holidays at the Ranch, and starting new memories with her family. A conscientious and devoted woman, she was loyal and thoroughly committed to her husband and family. One of her greatest joys was traveling. She loved sightseeing and partaking in the local culture and epicurean delights, and sharing this with her family. The Bell County community gained an active participant in many of the organizations that Patsy joined, and she often held an office while sitting on their boards. She was supportive in The Temple Garden Club, The Temple City Federation of Women's Clubs, Wildflower Ladies' Golf Association, Temple Community Concert Board, Past Presidents of City Federation, Daughters of the American Revolution, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and was a dynamic bridge player for multiple bridge clubs. A significant and important part of her family life was Christ Episcopal Church. Here, she was a supportive member of the Episcopal Church Women and the Christ Episcopal Church Altar Guild, as well as a faithful member of the congregation. Patsy is survived by her husband, Edward A. Hinkle, her children Charles Hinkle and Ferol Hinkle Richardson, and their spouses Natalie Hinkle and Jim Richardson, her four grandchildren Dr. Frances Hinkle and Louis Hinkle, and Connie Saldana and Claire Richardson. Remembered and loved for so many things she shared in her life, and the gifts she taught so many through her life. She will be missed and loved and always be, a loyal wife, mother, and grandmother. Services for Patsy Cox Hinkle will be held on Saturday the 6th of June at 2:00 PM, and after at the Columbarium in the Courtyard at Christ Episcopal Church, in Temple, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mrs. Hinkle's name to the Temple City Federation or to Christ Episcopal Church.
