
Ret. SSgt. Paul V. Borders,76, of Heidenheimer died Friday December 30. 2005 in a Temple hospital. Services for SSgt. Campbell will be held at noon January 5, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Bibler and Pastor Alan Struckmeyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Borders was born in Alton, Illinois the son of Joseph and Charlotte Thompson Borders. SSgt. Borders was a veteran of W.W. II, Korea and Vietnam retiring from the U.S. Army with more than 20 years service. He received the Army Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct Medal, W.W. II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal with Japan clasp, National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star also the Korean Service with bronze stars, Vietnam Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Borders also retired from Civil Service at Fort Hood in 1991. Mr. Borders married the former Dorothy Seago January 25, 1953 in Cornung, Arkansas. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Borders of Heidenheimer two sons Paul Borders of Columbia, Mo., David Borders of Little River, Tx. three daughters Cheryl Peters of Heidenheimer, Lisa Lay of Academy and Tina Bennett of Weston Connecticut and 11 Grandchildren. A Family visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday January 4, 2005 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
