Richard Sherman, U.S. Army Ret., 65, of Temple died Monday October 5, 2009 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Knox officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Temple Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Sherman was born January 27, 1944 in Pine River, Minnesota. He was a veteran of United States Army having served in the Republic of Vietnam 1965 to 1966 and then retired after twenty years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Temple. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 133, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1820, and the Disable American Veterans. Survivors include his wife Kim Sherman of Temple; two daughters, Kimberly and Angie; one son, Richard A. Sherman; two sisters, Wilma and Janice; several grandchildren.
