Shirley N. Thompson

Funeral services for Shirley N. Thompson, 79, of Little River, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Little River United Methodist Church. Burial will be in McDowell Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday in a Temple hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born March 11, 1935 in Belton to Raymond Barton and Lucille Clendennen Barton. She graduated from Temple High School. She married Merlin Thompson August 24, 1956. She worked as a telephone operator for Scott and White Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of Little River United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Church Women and was active in all church activities. She was a member of SPJST Academy #177. Survivors include her husband Merlin Thompson of Little River; three sons Alan Thompson and his wife JMel of Lake Bay, Washington, Rodney Thompson and his wife Kathy of Lufkin and Paul Thompson of Boston, Mass. and one brother Tommy Ray Barton and his wife Marjorie of Temple.
