Lance Corporal Sophia Marie Craft, age 20, of Camp Pendleton, California passed away September 7, 2025. Visitation will be at Scanio Harper Funeral Home Temple, Texas on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, with the service following at 3:00 pm She will be laid to rest at a later date at Union Cemetery in Freestone, Texas.
She served in the United States Marine Corp after graduating Boot Camp as a Private on June 7, 2024. Following Boot Camp she was stationed at Pensacola, Florida where she graduated from O Strand (aviation maintenance) on August 9, 2025, and promoted to Lance Corporal. She was then stationed at Camp Pendleton, California to complete three months of aviation training.
Sophia is preceded in death by her mother, Jessica Holland Craft. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Roy and Darla Craft of Academy, TX. She also leaves behind her siblings, Joseph Rolirad of Tacoma, Washington, Daniella Craft of Commerce, Texas, Mya Craft of Temple, Texas, Jorge (Andrew) Miranda of Temple, Texas, Rex Craft of Bastrop, Texas, Lorin Craft of Austin, Texas, Lindsey Marek of Rogers, Texas, Layne Ashby of Cana, Virginia, Landon Ashby of Austin, Texas, grandparents Jack and Sylvia Leath of Waco, Texas, the late Roy Craft, Sr and Shirley Craft of Heidenheimer, Texas and step grandmother Linda Olson of Academy, Texas, as well as many aunts, uncles, sisters in law, brother in law, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who loved her dearly.
Memorials can be made in Sophia’s name to the Union Cemetery Association in Freestone, Texas P.O. Box 242, Teague, Texas 75860.
