Troy graduated from S & S Consolidated High School in 1968. He married the love of his life, Linda Marie Brown, in 1970. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in August. Together, they have 3 children: Amy, Angie and Bret. Troy was a member of Sadler United Methodist Church. He graduated from East Texas State University in 1972 with a master’s degree in agriculture. He taught agriculture and served as an FFA advisor in Caddo Mills, before accepting a job with Texas Power and Light Company in Waco, Texas and moving his family to Lorena, Texas. This was the first of many moves as his jobs took him through employment with TXU Electric, Oncor, and Luminant. The Sellers family refers to Lorena as ‘home’, but Troy’s work led them through stops in Brownwood, Bonham, and Mt. Pleasant. Troy retired in 2016, though his work was never-ending as he continued to work part-time at Legends Ranch and Family Toyota of Burleson. He also volunteered much of his time to judging livestock shows and FFA contests, serving as a representative for Ag Workers Mutual Auto Insurance and many other community events. His favorite pastime was enjoying watching any or all of his grandchildren in their activities.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. and Lois Ann Sellers, his mother-in-law, Mary J. Brown and grandson, Landon Keith Sellers.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Burleson, TX; daughter Amy Albro and husband, Leland of Troy, TX; daughter Angie Trammel and husband, Joe of Burleson, TX; son Bret Sellers and wife, Jennifer of Salado, TX; grandchildren: Cabe Temple, Alex Albro, Emily Trammel, Jacob Sellers, Sarah Trammel, Matthew Sellers, Grant Sellers, Seth Trammel, Lane Albro, Alli Albro, and Catelyn Sellers. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Robert L. Brown; brothers: Craig Sellers and wife, Cindy; Chris Sellers and wife, Charla; Gene Sellers and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 at 2:00 P.M., at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, TX, with a visitation from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Those who wish to remember Troy in a special way may make gifts in his name to the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown.
