

Wesley Morris, Jr., 81, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Tuesday, June 4th at a local hospital. Services will be held Friday, June 7th, at 10:00 AM at First Christian Church in Temple with Dr. Don Lynn. Visitation is on Thursday, June 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Wes was born on June 9, 1931, to Wesley Morris, Sr. and Elizabeth Pearl Hensley in Blytheville, Arkansas. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 until April 1954 on the USS Yarnell as a gun captain and cook. He fought in the Korean War on three separate deployments. He served as Post Commander of American Legion Post 133 for three years and also served as Post Chaplain for ten years. Wes also served as Post Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1820 for one year. On July 4, 1961, he married Betty Jean Schneider. Wes retired from Continental Baking Company after thirty years of service. He was preceded in death by his three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Morris, and five children; Gwen Campbell of Morristown, Tennessee, Cindy Hooten of McKinney, Dan Golder, Dwain Morris and Elizabeth Urubek all of Temple, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
