
William H. "Dub" Wright, 73 of Temple died Tuesday March 25, 2008 in a Temple hospital. Services for Mr. Wright will be held at 10:00 AM Friday March 28, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Temple with Dr. Tom Robbins and Rev. Hubert Austin officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Mr. Wright was born in rural Bell County July 7, 1934. He was educated in Belton and graduated in 1951 serving as student council president. He was a butcher at Taggart's Grocery in his youth. He was employed in civil service at Fort Hood from 1953 to 1986 retiring as commissary officer with 33 ½ years service. He married Janice Morris in Belton on May 29, 1954. He coached little league baseball for many years and also refereed high school football games in the area. He was an active member of the Dawson Sunday School Class and First United Methodist Church, Temple, where he served on the administrative board and many committees. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, one son Steve Wright of Temple, one daughter Sherri Wright of Round Rock, seven grandsons, two granddaughters, two great grandsons and two sisters Ruby Weems of Belton and Billie Ruth Pearson of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry, in January 2007. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday March 27, 2008 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church Post Office Box773 Temple, Texas 76501.
