

Amalia Manz, 98, of Leisure Village West, Manchester, on Monday, August 26, 2013 at home. Mrs Manz was born in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Longin and Anna Zemanek-Domin. She moved to New Jersey in 1934. A sister, Anna D. Wagner, died in 2005, a brother Joseph in 1946. Mrs. Manz lived in the Battle Hill section of Union Township for 25 years, then Summit for 25 years. Her first husband, William K. Hankel, died at Monte Cassino, Italy in 1944; her second husband, William Landwehr, a veteran of the Pacific theater-WW II, died in 1969; her third husband of 10 years, Erwin Manz, passed away in 1991. With Bill Landwehr, she was co-owner of Triangle Tavern, Newark/Irvington, and Emily's Household Catering of Short Hills-Millburn (later Long Beach Island), for over 35 years. Mrs Manz was a graduate of the Wilfred Academy and operated a home-hairdressing service from 1945-1949. Mrs. Manz was a communicant of St. James Church, Springfield and later St. John's Church, Lakehurst. She is survived by a sister, Monika Vrchka of Stara Tura, Slovakia, a step-daughter, Lisa Strobel of Richmond, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. Entombment will be at All Saints Chapel-Columbarium, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Whiting, at a later date.
