Anne S. Burgan, 83, of Toms River, NJ passed away on July 30, 2018 at her home. Born in NY, NY she lived in Baltimore MD and then Hartford CT for 25 years before moving to Toms River 10 years ago. She received her BA from Hunter College in 1957 and her Master’s in Library Science from the Univ. of Rhode Island in 1975. Anne was a director of the Douglas Library in Hebron, CT until her retirement 10 years ago. She was the former president of the Friends of Toms River Library. Anne was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Hartford, CT and currently a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Toms River.
Anne was predeceased by her husband John and her daughter Martha A. Shaw. She is survived by her daughter Sarah Siskin and her husband Peter of Forked River, NJ and her son-in-law David J. Monaco of Hartford, CT; her grandchildren Christopher Magnant and his wife Annie of Sarasota, FL and Adam Siskin of Toms River, NJ; and her great-grandchildren Christopher Jr. and Calen.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT. Donations may be made in her memory to either the Toms River Library General Book Fund or the Hebron Public Library. A celebration of Anne’s life will take place at the Clarion Restaurant on Rt. 37W in Toms River, NJ on Saturday Sept. 22, 2018 at 1 :00 PM.
