Barbara J. Peist

Barbara J. Peist, 71, of Toms River, NJ passed away at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ on Thursday October 23, 2025. Born in Hoboken, NJ Barbara was raised in Union City and lived in Cedar Grove and Belleville before moving to Toms River 4 years ago. She was retired from being a US Postal Carrier for many years. Barbara loved her family especially all her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing games on the computer, visiting Atlantic City and loved to laugh and sing. She had a personality that could light up a room and will be dearly missed.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Brian and her siblings Cathy Chiurazzi, Gerald Barrett and Robert Barrett. She is survived by her 4 sisters Joan Pawelec, her twin sister Ruth Barrett, Janet Grosso and Carol Purpura; her two brothers George Barrett and Bernard J. Barrett; many loving nieces and nephews and many loving grand-nieces and grand-nephews and her dear companion James Salvato.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 28, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will be celebrated at 4:30 pm. Burial will be private at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ.
