

Everitt passed away on 10/13/25 at Community Medical Center. He was born to Matthew and Doddis Nye in Orange NJ. He joined the Navy in 1956, following in his older brother's footsteps. He retired from the Navy in 1992 after serving in Operation Desert Storm. He was a proud Veteran.
His cooking career started in the Navy and continued after he retired. He worked in 5-star restaurants and even opened up his own catering company. He loved life and was the joy and life of the party no matter where he went. He enjoyed traveling and playing Pokeno with his Friday Night Clubhouse gang. He was also a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
He was predeceased by his parents, siblings Matthew, Marvin, Charlie, and Doddis; his daughter Dawn; and his loving wife of almost 50 years, Mary. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa, and his grandchildren, Kristen and Tyler. Also surviving are his 5 great-grandchildren and a host of many loving nieces, nephews, grand & great-grand nephews.
A visitation will be held at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753, on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 am. A committal service will follow to Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave, Colonia at 12:15 pm where Navy Military Honors will be presented.
