

John A. Leach, 97, of Toms River passed away on Saturday September 29th, 2012 suddenly at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Cumberland, RI he was raised in Pawtucket, RI, graduated from Pawtucket High School in 1933 and attended RI School of Design. He later moved to Nutley, NJ. In 1982 he moved to the Silver Ridge section of Toms River. He belonged to the Silver Ridge Westerly Golf, Bowling and Men’s Clubs, was an avid Red Sox fan and played semi-professional soccer in Rhode Island for a N.E. soccer team. John worked for Coats & Clark in Pawtucket and Newark for 42 years until his retirement in 1977 as the dye research chemist. He was predeceased by 7 brothers and 5 sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years Margaret, daughters Linda Masse of North Smithfield, RI, Donna and husband William Roberts of Buffalo, NY and Meryl and husband Richard Hill of Bath, ME, 8 grandchildren Stephen Masse, Karen Masse, Craig Schapiro, Jared Schapiro, Matthew Schapiro, Clark Hill, Meredith Hill and Dianna Kilgallen, 5 great grandchildren Katie, Victoria, Alicia and Christopher, Liam and great great grandchild Izabella.
