She was born August 19, 1950, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Virginia(nee Van Nest) and
Edward K. Heim, and lived in New Jersey for the first 30 years of her life before moving to
Phoenix, Arizona. She subsequently moved to Thousand Oaks, California, where she lived for 3
years, before finally returning home to New Jersey and settling in Lakewood and then Toms
River.
Pat earned her R.N. from Glendale Community College School of Nursing, in Glendale, Arizona,
and later earned her OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification in New Jersey. She
established a successful career as a Registered Nurse and worked in several New Jersey
institutions, before retiring from Bey Lea Nursing Home in 2016.
She is survived by three brothers; Rev. Edward H. Heim & his wife Janet of Hagerstown,
Maryland; Greg Heim & his wife Donna of Toms River, New Jersey; and Glenn Heim of
Bricktown, New Jersey. Pat is also survived by her two children Marc C. Flury & his wife Donna
of Jackson, New Jersey, and Diane Kimberly Smejkal & her husband Rudolph of Lakehurst,
New Jersey; six grandsons, Keith & Alexander Flury, and Jonathan, Jeremy, James, & Jacob
Smejkal; multiple nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Conrad W. Flury, of Phoenix,
Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Edward K. Heim.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 12 from 1p.-4p. at Quinn
Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Quinn Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
