

Robert B. Mider passed away on April 5, 2024. He was born in Hornell, New York to Kenneth and Ruth Mider. Bob graduated Canasteo Central High School June 25, 1954. He went on to achieving a degree in Engineering Physics from Leigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on June 15, 1959. His engineering education brought him to an enlistment in the U.S.Army Corp of Engineering for Research and Development, where he was employed from Sept 4, 1959 to August 31, 1962. After which time he transferred into the U.S. Army Reserve, U.S. Army Corp, until August 31, 1965. While in the service he received commendations as an expert rifleman and carbine marksman. On October 15, 1962, Bob Mider transferred to civilian status in the U. S. Government where he was employed as a Supervisory Electronics Engineer, at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. until retirement on October 3, 1998. While working for the government, Mr. Mider received his Masters in Business Administration from Monmouth College on May 26, 1973.
Bob’s extensive athletic career began at Canasteo High where he held the high school track record for many years. He went on to play running back and center for Leigh University.Bob’s marksmanship abilities enabled him to become an effective bowman. His most gratifying interest was in Deep Sea Diving for over 15 years, in such places as Bangkok, Guam, Cuba, South America and Australia. Bob was an avid cyclist most of his life, challenging himself to as much as 50 miles of riding a day.
Robert Mider was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Virginia Tice, his daughter, Shannon Mider and his grandchildren; Anthony and Cynthia Tedesco. Also surviving are his two sisters Frances Biedler and Cynthia Green and brother Richard Mider and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, good sense of humor and his zeal for life.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27, 2024 10:00 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River.
