Ronald Thomas Dorn Sr.

Ronald Thomas Dorn, Sr., age 79, most recently of Toms River, NJ, went home on July 26, 2025 after succumbing to his medical ailments while receiving treatment at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ.

Ronald was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 30, 1945 as the son of Andrew and Virginia Dorn. He grew up in Withams, Virginia and attended the Accomack High School. Ronald spent some time in the job corp. He later settled in Toms River NJ where he met and married Josefina Rivera. They had 3 children. Ronald Jr, Michael, and Renee’. They ultimately divorced but remained friends. He went on to marry Cynthia Gale Harper and became a stepfather to her 6 sons. They remained married until Cynthia's passing in 2018.

Throughout his life Ronald worked as a police officer as well as a corrections officer. He loved music. Ronald learned to play the organ from his mother Virginia and taught himself how to play guitar.

Ronald leaves behind his children Ronald T. Dorn, Jr. (Shannon), Michael L. Dorn (Amanda), and Renee’ L. Dorn; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Andrew Van Dorn (Gwen), and his sister, Valeria Evans (Dean); as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A memorial gathering for Ronald will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755-5028.
