Stephanie V. Baranowski, 90, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Sunday July 27th, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of Gus and Victoria Zalewski, daughter- in- law of Katherine and Simon Baranowski, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend to many, young and old, Stephanie was predeceased by her devoted husband, Raymond, and siblings, Mary, Ted, Sally, Jessie, Charlotte, Josephine, Eddie, Frank, and Walter. Surviving are her daughters Vicky Bernstein and husband Steven of Jackson, NJ, Dr. Kathy Baranowski and husband Dr. Michael Roman of Roseland, NJ, and Susan Braymer and husband William of Pinckney, MI. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Douglas Bernstein and wife Gen, Jill D’ Ambrosio and husband Nicky , Nicole Benevenia, Michael Benevenia, Samuel Benevenia, Angela Benevenia, James Roman, Michael Roman, and Calla Braymer , two great- grandsons, Logan Bernstein and Max D’Ambrosio, and many nieces and nephews.
Born on Thanksgiving, 1923, in Johnstown, PA, she resided in Garfield, NJ and Clifton, NJ prior to moving to Toms River in 1982. She was a graduate of Garfield High School and worked at the Ration Board during the war. She worked as a secretary for Allstate Insurance Company in Clifton and Toms River, retiring in 1986. Stephanie lived life with a zesty, happy passion and enjoyed her family foremost. Active to the very end, she enjoyed sports of all kinds, swimming, boating, golfing, music, reading, knitting, playing her organ, cooking, entertaining, and traveling. She was a teacher to all and an exemplary matriarch of our large and extended family. She worked hard, laughed loud, played freely, loved deeply, and was a true testament to the human spirit of perseverance, patience, strength, generosity, and faith. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Barnabas R.C. Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville, NJ. Interment will be private.
