Steve was born in Boston, Ma. but raised “down neck” in Newark, NJ. He attended Saint Aloysius Elementary, East Side High School & served in the US Air Force. He spent many years living in Toms River and other shore areas before settling in Barnegat.
Though he'd held many jobs, eventually spending his “semi-retired” years as a newspaper carrier, Steve was a gifted lifelong musician. He performed in a variety of bands and worked as a studio musician for many years. Steve taught guitar and mentored young musicians. He played with many of the greats; his stories of those days were almost as entertaining as his music.
A master guitarist and bassist, Steve was also a consummate student of all instruments. In recent years, one of his main hobbies became mixing tracks of himself playing said instruments. Known for not knowing lyrics, he’d make them up as he played. His true passion though was Jazz.
Steve was a lifelong sports fan; especially fond of the NY Mets and Jets despite the rough patches each team endured. He remained a loyal fan until the end.
Steve was a people person; his door was always open to those who wanted to drop in and jam, listen, watch a game or “shoot the sh**t". Steve WAS the party. A kid at heart he connected with young and old. Though he never gained fame, he was legendary to those who knew him.
Steve was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen and his parents Tirso and Mary. He was a loving and adored father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his brothers Victor and wife Emelia, Philip and wife Athena, daughters, Christine, Jacquellyn and husband Tony, Victoria and her partner, Frank
Sons David, Shayne and wife Brittney, grandchildren Jordan, Desiree, Mariah, Julian, Antonio, and Giovanni, great-grandchildren, Shai, Kashen, Jordan "L.J.", Maelle, Anthony “A.J.”, Kaelan, Kai, and Nova.
Niece Cassia and nephew Justin as well as many friends who became family.
