With profound loss we announce the sudden passing due to natural causes of Andrew Franklin Douglas Finlay on March 2, 2018 while on an adventure in Vietnam at the age of 30. Andrew will be greatly missed by his mother Sylvia (Richard), father Steven (Cheri), brother Douglas, grandparents J. Franklin & Patricia Guenther, the late Rachel (Rae) & Douglas Finlay, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Andrew was a truly unique, brilliant and loving young person. He was passionate, intellectually engaged, empathic, courageous and inspiring. Andrew had a tremendous amount of compassion and was an advocate for social change supporting Liberation in North Korea and the abolishment of solitary confinement as a form of punishment worldwide. His dedication to persevere and overcome many challenges was truly remarkable.
Andrew was committed to intellectual pursuits and was passionate about his studies in Philosophy at the University of Toronto. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A ceremony to celebrate Andrews’s life will take place at 1:30p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Berkley Church, 315 Queen St. E, Toronto with a reception onsite to immediately follow.
