Anne Marilyn Deck

Born in Toronto to Jim and Nellie Atreo, Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, compassion, and devotion to her family touched the lives of all who knew her. She was recently predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Francis Deck.

After graduating from Notre Dame High School she went into training at St.Michael’s Hospital to pursue nursing. She practiced on the labour and delivery unit and was deeply passionate about caring for newborns and ensuring they received the best possible start to life. Her nursing career was brief as she chose to dedicate her time to raising her family once she had children of her own. Later in life she pursued a career in psychotherapy, continuing her passion to help others.

Anne was a kind, compassionate and generous woman. She cherished her time with family and friends. It could be a shared meal, a game of cards, a walk in the park or simply spending time together. She found great pleasure in art, music and nature.

Anne will be deeply missed by her brother Jimmy (Irene). She will be fondly remembered by her children, Anne Marie (Andrew), Karen (former husband David), Francis (Liseta), Glenn (Demi) and Brian (Amber), her cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew), Kyle (Lawren), Christine (Harrison), Jonathan, Kaili, Justin, Jennifer, Kevin, Sam and Rachel and her beloved great grandchild, Maya.

Anne will be lovingly cherished by her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She often recalled happy memories with them at the cottage and family events. These treasured memories, moments of laughter, and enduring bonds brought her great joy throughout her life.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Cancer Clinic at North York General Hospital and the staff and physicians at the Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook Hospital. Your compassionate care is so deeply appreciated by her family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13th from 4pm-8pm at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home located at 6191 Yonge Street (just south of Steeles Ave.).

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 14th at 11am at St.Gabriel’s Parish located at 670 Sheppard Ave. East.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation or North York General Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
