Peacefully, with her family by her side on November 28 at the age of 55, Cathy died. Beloved, loving wife and best friend of Chris. Devoted and treasured mother of David (fiancée Jennifer Bolender) and Clare. Faithful daughter of James Mighton (Kay) and predeceased by her mother Frances (née Hart). Dear sister of Stephen (Barbara) and Laura (Kevin Eryou). Caring and prayerful aunt of April, Elsbeth, Eric, Stacey and Thomas. Cathy will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her brothers and sisters in Christ. Cathy loved teaching piano to adults and children, who sorely missed her inventive and patient tuition when illness forced her to retire in 2008.
Prayers from all around the world sustained Cathy, Chris, David and Clare and resulted in many blessings. Special thanks and sincere gratitude go to relatives and friends for their constant support. Sacrificial and enduring faithfulness and love were a daily encouragement and a symbol of God`s love surrounding Cathy and family.
During the past two and half years Cathy was blessed with an exceptional medical team and dedicated support workers, Dr. Joan Murphy, Dr. Amit Oza and Dr. Carol Townsley (Princess Margaret Hospital), Dr Anita Singh (Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, Mount Sinai Hospital), visiting nurse Michelle Williams (St. Elizabeth Health Care) and Personal Support Worker, Ariel and visiting hospice volunteer Victoria Shipmaker (Philip Aziz Hospice).
Following a stroke in 2009 Cathy was blessed with an inspiring team of physiotherapists, speech language pathologists and occupational therapists at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute who coached Cathy, working with her passion and dedication to reach the peak of recovery. Cathy continued to work on her speech recovery with a program at the Aphasia Institute where she found a new community of friends and coaches who added stimulus to her life.
