Edward "Eddie" Errol Ramdial, age 87, of North York passed away suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Edward was born in Diego Martin, Trinidad, and Tobago. Dearly loved husband of Monica for 58 years. Beloved father of Michelle (John Giardino) and Marlon (deceased, 1996).
Caring and proud Papa of Jade and Maxine.
Eldest brother of Cynthia, Arthur, Stephen, Michael, and Diane.
Predeceased by his siblings Sheila, John, Conrad, Nicholas, George, and Bertrand.
Special "Brother" of Barbara, Clive, and Marjorie.
Dear Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born in 1935 in the town of Diego Martin, on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, Edward was a man of profound faith with his love for God, family, friends, and community. In 1959, God called Edward to attend the Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He spent his summers working in the mines of Sudbury, Ontario, and Alberta, Canada. He was also the original “cruiser” in our family by voyaging across the Atlantic Ocean between Canada, England, and Trinidad. After graduating from EPBC in 1962, he returned to Trinidad and his faith guided him to continue to share his love for God with the people of his homeland.
Edward met Monica in a church called Revival Time Assembly in San Fernando, Trinidad. They were married on April 17, 1965, and a few years later, they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Michelle, before immigrating to Canada permanently in 1968. Soon after, he sponsored his in-laws, Max and Jane Khan, and other family members to immigrate to Canada also. In 1972, Edward and Monica welcomed their second child, a son, Marlon.
Edward worked at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for the province of Ontario until his retirement.
He had a passion for birds and fishing. He enjoyed spending every summer of the last 41 years at the family cottage, "out-fishing" anyone that joined him on his boat. He took great pride in preparing and serving his freshly caught fish-fry breakfasts and delivering some of his catch to family and friends. He loved the early morning peace and tranquility of the Trent River to pray to his Heavenly Father.
He followed hockey, baseball, tennis, golf, and other sports. You may have received a phone call if he was not happy with a particular call or play.
His two granddaughters Jade and Maxine were his absolute pride and joy. He relished in the role of being their best Papa ever. His entire face would light up the second he heard their voices or saw their faces. They made him feel alive and youthful.
While we are extremely saddened by this sudden loss, we know that Eddie will continue to have an impact on many lives for years to come. He leaves us with an everlasting legacy of faith, love, and charity as he rests in the arms of his Lord and Saviour.
