Elli Manninen (nee Halttunen) was born in Toivokka, Finland February 15 1918 and went to her heavenly home from her own bed April4 2021, Easter morning in Toronto. Elli immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband Toimi (predeceased 1996) and four children. She and her husband built a new home and life for her family in Concord. Throughout her long life Elli was a very generous and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother – our “mummo”. Her attributes to her successful, full and long life included hardwork, caring for friends and especially for newcomers to the country, and her strong faith and trust in her God and saviour. She leaves behind a large extended family in Finland and numerous friends throughout the world. She will be greatly missed by her children Aimo (Irene), Aulis (Aino), Pirjo and predeceased son Ilpo (1962); her grandchildren Anita (Sam), Antero (Kristen), Tanja (Ryan), Corina (Oliver) and Johanna (Harry), and great grandchildren Miia, Jordan, Grace, Matti, Leif, Annastiina and Elina. “And (she) will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).

Dear Pirjo, Aulis, Aimo and your family members,

I remember Elli from when our family visited your family in 1962. I experienced her hospitality and love, so that I prayed for the Manninen family every evening for many years. I had the Privilege of meeting her again in 2018 and was amazed at how well she was as a centenarian.
She has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Now the Lord has awarded her with a crown of righteousness. What a legacy!
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

What a blessing it has been to know you the past 53 years.
The photo is from your 100th Birthday Celebration in 2018, I tried to download more pictures which I took from your "Centennial Celebration", which was a very beautiful occasion, but only one photo seemed to come up for this Memorial page. You looked amazingly young and energetic, and I hope that this picture of you would speak to that which is from your 100th Birthday Celebration. This picture of you was taken when the celebration had ended. There were red roses on the tables, a bunches of them, and the hall was beautifully decorated for your honor. Your children, grandchildren your great grandchildren were there also to honor you, and your many friends including me. I will always remember you as one of the most wonderful people I have known, and your faith in The Risen Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior was so strong, never doubting, never wavering, you were an example to all who came in contact with you -Thank You for your kindness to me and to so many others! Now your eternal life has began in heaven, and you must be very happy, though we are saddened that you are gone from us, but God in His Mercy gave you 103 years, so we can be happy that we had you so many years with us on this side of heaven!
