Despite being a chemist, he loved farming and the outdoor, and had actually acquired a diploma from University of Guelph (then an agricultural college) in farm techniques. After Retirement, he went into farming and tutoring young children.
He loved playing cards, dominos, watching sports, horse racing (to the point of owning one) and last but not least, reading his Bible. He loved entertaining and used his birthday to lure his domino team to his farm in Jamaica during the winter break.
