With deeply heavy hearts, but an abundance of love, we announce the passing of our sweet, beautiful daughter, Evelyn Grace ("Effie") Letson, who left this world at the age of two. Though her time with us was far too short, the depth of the love, joy, and light she shared will remain with us forever.
From the very beginning, Evelyn faced complex medical challenges, but she met each day with remarkable determination and courage. She did not simply endure; she persevered. Time and again, Effie defied the odds, demonstrating a strength far beyond her years. Her life was a testament to resilience, bravery, and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. Through her journey, she taught everyone around her the true meaning of unconditional love, courage, and hope. Effie's courageous heart stood for so much love and strength.
To know Effie was to experience pure light. She had an unforgettable smile that could brighten even the darkest day and a wonderfully expressive face that brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. Yet alongside her vibrant energy, she carried a gentle calmness and quiet grace that brought comfort to those fortunate enough to hold her close. She was profoundly sweet, kind, and possessed a spirit that connected deeply with everyone she met.
Music was one of Effie's greatest joys. She loved hearing songs, having music played just for her, and exploring instruments in her own special way. Music seemed to speak directly to her heart, and her happiness could be seen in every smile, every expression, and every moment she spent surrounded by the sounds she loved.
Everyone who met Effie fell in love with her. She had a rare and beautiful ability to bring people together, filling every room with warmth, love, and happiness. Though she was only with us for two precious years, she touched countless lives and left an imprint that will last forever. She filled her days with love, music, expression, and light, reminding all of us to cherish life's simplest and most beautiful moments.
Effie will be forever loved and cherished by her devoted parents, Kristen and Rick; her loving sister, Rosalie; and her step-brother, Avery. She will also be deeply missed by her grandparents, Donna and Doug, Bryan and Carol, and Randi, as well as her extended family, friends, caregivers, and all those whose lives were forever changed by her presence.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit is finally free and that her beautiful light will continue to guide us. Effie came into this world and showed us what pure love looks like. Our precious Evelyn Grace, your little life made the world a brighter place. You lit up our world, and your love will light our way forever.
Until we meet again, sweet girl, you will be loved for all the days of our lives.
A celebration of Evelyn Grace's beautiful life will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, North York, Ontario, on Saturday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are welcome at the funeral home and donations may be made in her honour to SickKids Hospital.
