

He is survived by his wife, Maria Di Marcantonio, of 66 years, his three children Aldo (Anna Maria), Joe (Tina), and Rita (Andrea), his grandchildren (Michaela (fiancé Franco), Jonathan, Alyssa, Dale and Clara). He is also survived by Grazia and Loretta, his sisters who reside in Italy.
Giovanni has gone to rest with his parents Natale Di Marcantonio and Maria Leone, his siblings, Nina, Vittorio, and Nera, and dear, Benito, who passed away as a young toddler.
Giovanni was born in Fiume, Italy and as a young man at the tender age of 15 left Italy to start a new life in Toronto, Canada. Giovanni (also known as John) will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father, deeply committed to his family. He will be cherished for his unwavering dedication to providing for his loved ones and his passion for gardening. Giovanni’s backyard garden, filled with homegrown fruits and vegetables, was a testament to his love and care. Giovanni was a hardworking man. He was humble, had a wonderful sense of humor, and approached life with courage, tenacity, and resilience.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Villa Leonardo Gambin for their compassionate care during the last few months of his life.
Visitation will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto on Thursday January 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will take place at St. Paschal’s Baylon Church, 92 Steeles Avenue, Thornhill on Friday January 31 at 9:30 a.m.
