Helen Ruth Gorrie

Helen Ruth Gorrie, aged 95, passed away peacefully May 28th, surrounded by her family in Ajax Ontario. She was born Nov 16, 1930 to parents Burton and Beatrice Genge on the family farm in Oak Flats, Ontario

She was preceded by her husband Dan Gorrie of 58 years and leaves to your care, Andrew Gorrie and Kathy Balsillie, 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Patrick, Heather. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Finola.

In the last year's of her life, she was surrounded by her family and supported by the wonderful staff at Bay Ridges, for which we are eternally grateful for their care and dedication.

Ruth was born into a large, close knit family (4 sisters and 2 brothers), and is survived by her youngest sister Carol Shelton. This family instilled a deep love and affection in Ruth for family and it shone through every day. She opened her home to everyone, encouraging people to gather to share their lives, news and family gossip. She had a love of cards, mostly hearts and euchre, and was passionate about music. She was especially proud of her children, Andrew on the guitar and Katherine on the piano, and Dan on the bag pipes. When she was younger she loved to dance.

The family will be celebrating Ruth's life at a memorial to be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 12pm, Friday, June 5th, 2026.
