

He was predeceased by Kum Sook, his loving wife of 29 years and survived by his daughter Jennifer (Peter) and his son James (Sujin) and three adored grandchildren William, Erica and Christopher.
Ik Chan was born in Gyeongsangdo Province, South Korea on November 30, 1935. He obtained a degree in electrical engineering from the Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea in 1960 and worked with the Korea Electric Company from 1960 to 1970. After immigrating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1970 with his wife and two children, he soon joined the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario and found a long and fruitful career as a senior electrical engineer and project manager with Hatch Associates (now Hatch Consulting), a global conglomerate, for 25 years.
Both during his career and after retirement, Ik Chan travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean (living in Trinidad for several years as part of his work), East Asia, Indonesia, South Africa, Europe, the Maldives and Australia and he loved being an explorer and adventurer of new cultures. He was hardworking , loyal, proud and a loving father and grandfather who had an irreverent sense of humor. Ik Chan will forever rest in our hearts and loving memories.
