

Beloved husband of the late Pamela Thomas (2022), John is survived by his children: Sharika (José), Melissa, Anthony and André; brothers Basil (Rachel), Andrew (Joy), Ulric (Annette) and his sisters Barbara, Hazel (Michael) & Judy; step-grandchildren Kassie & Jaylon; and step-great-grandsons Roman & Jaycier.
John was predeceased by his father Peter Nolasco, mother Violet and step-mother Vera, as well as his brothers Robert, Cecil, Lucien, & Erick, and sisters Linda & Joan.
Originating from the island of Trinidad & Tobago where he was born and raised, John immigrated to Canada to further his studies and establish his life in Toronto. During his college years, he met the love of his life, Pamela Patricia Carey, whom he married in 1979. As a studious, hardworking man of faith, he raised four children while employed at Osgoode Hall Law Library at York University and he attained his Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Studies with Honours in 1986 whilst working full-time. John was a dedicated employee who worked for a period of 41 years at the university, assisting many aspiring lawyers conducting research, before officially retiring in 2016.
John was a sports aficionado, particularly soccer, and a well-known referee with several recreational organizations spanning many years; a coach with the North York Cosmos Soccer Club and the Scarborough Basketball Association; and a referee with Ontario Soccer and Toronto Association of Basketball Officials (TABO).
John also maintained a strong connection to his culture & native Trinidad, known to visit annually even into his retirement years. He loved Carnival and Trini food and would often make his favorite dishes to share with his family.
John will be forever remembered as a kind and generous husband, father, brother & friend who selflessly devoted his life to others. His infectious smile, gift of conversation, wry humour, and love of life will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him and he leaves an enduring legacy on our lives.
Visitation will be held at the Kane-Jarrett North York Funeral Home (6191 Yonge Street south of Steeles Ave.) on Wednesday April 15th from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service which will be held in the chapel at 11:00AM.
Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill.
