Joe understood that the greatest measure of a life is not what we accumulate on our journey, but what we leave behind in the hearts of others. He built a legacy of love.
For 67 beautiful years, with Catherine (née Filicetti) by his side, they created a family rooted in kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love. Together, they showed their children, Marianne (Michael), Rita (Larry), Tommy (Simone), and Dino (Adelina), that the greatest gift we can give one another is simply to love well.
That gift continues through his beloved grandchildren: Jordana, Daniel, Zak (Chloe), Samantha (Lawrence), Giancarlo (Karlene), Sophia, Isabella, and Olivia, and through his cherished great-grandchildren, Kash and Lyrika. They carry forward his values, his warmth, and his spirit.
There are some people who bring a light into the world so bright that even after they are gone, that light never fades. Joey B was one of those people. His light lives on in every family gathering, every story retold around the table, every laugh that echoes through the room, and every act of kindness inspired by the example he set.
He wasn’t simply our husband, father, grandfather, or friend. He was our foundation. He taught us - not through grand speeches, but through the quiet example of how he lived each day, that love is measured in time given, hands held, sacrifices made, and by always putting family first.
We didn’t just know Papa Joe, we were shaped by him. We are better because he was part of our lives. How incredibly fortunate we are to have been loved by him.
While we will miss his voice, his smile, and his presence more than words can express, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave us did not end with his passing. It lives on in each of us.
That is his legacy.
That is his light.
And that light will never fade.
