Beloved husband of Barbara Hauer (passed away on January 16, 2024) for 67 years.
Loving father of Gerhardt (Victoria), Norman (Loisann), Elizabeth (Markus)
Karl will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Samantha, Nicole (Joseph), Christine, Gloria and great-grandson Joey.
Karl was born and raised in Sopron Hungary and moved to Germany after WW2. He immigrated to Canada along with his parents and brother in 1953. Karl loved each of his 3 home countries. He was a proud Hungarian and German, but mostly he was a proud citizen of his chosen country Canada.
Not long after moving to Canada he met his lifelong companion, Barbara. They moved to Toronto and purchased a home where they raised three children.
Karl worked at CBC for 32 years and enjoyed a long and happy retirement. He loved gardening, singing in the choir, telling stories and listening to Mozart. He was an active church member his entire life. He enjoyed many recreational activities. In the summer he enjoyed swimming and skating in the winter. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Karl will be greatly missed.
Visiting will be held at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home 6191 Yonge St. (South of Steeles Ave.) on Thursday October 29th, 2026 from 10 am until time of the funeral service which will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am.
Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, (Don Mills Rd. south of Steeles Ave.)
