He is survived by his children, Rebecca Mak, Michelle Mak, Raymond Mak, Philip Mak, Samuel Mak, and his grandchild, Renée Mak.
Our father, Mak Siu Chow, was born in China Guangdong Province, Bao’an County on September 1st, 1928. Our father was the only child of his family and our grandfather passed away when our father was young. He was raised by my grandmother.
Our father was a filial son towards his mother, as he started to help with the family business when he was around 14 to 15 years old. He worked hard for the family business and at a young age he married our mother Man Hong Mak. Our parents moved to Hong Kong after they got married, right after the Second World War.
After they moved to Hong Kong, our father needed to start from scratch to build up his business while raising up his young family and at the same time. He worked hard to raise six children, and sometimes even after a whole day of work, he would stay up to finish up on accounting. Our father did his utmost best to provide the best for his family, yet he never complained about his heavy workload. Though my father had only completed grade 4 in education, he always made sure his children were provided with the best education possible. All his children completed university and became professionals, all thanks to their father’s tireless encouragement and selflessness financial support. My father is always an awesome Dad. He even brought his sons and daughters to Canada so that they could have a better life, he had sacrificed so much for his children.
We loved you, Dad. You were so dearly to us. To us, you were the best father one could ever dream.
Our father passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at the age of 97; a good old age. His sons and daughters will deeply miss him.
Rest in peace, Dad; we loved you!
