I don't know if this the same Mike Joyce who lived at the St. Jamestown apartments at Wellesley and Parliament in Toronto during the 1970s but if it is, I remember Mike as a crazy Irishman who organized a Rock the Boat Concert on Toronto Islands one summer.  He had a twinkle in his eye and an incredible sense of wry humour.   I lost touch with him when I went out West to live but now that I am back in Toronto, I think of him often when I pass by those old highrise buildings that used to be a place for swinging singles in the 1970s.  

It is with deep sadness I have learned the passing of my very dear friend Michael Joyce. As a fellow Irishman, true companion, dedicated workmate and loving family man, Michael was a joy to be with, both at work and leisure times. He spoke very fondly of his Irish roots and beloved Bellaghy in County Derry. Every Friday after work, if we were not held hostage to our jobs we would settle in for a quick pint of Guinness where the topics centered around his grandkids, Van Morrison, The Wolfe Tones and just about anything related to Ireland. He was easy going with a great sense of humor and an amazing knack of mimicking  certain characters in a tasteful funny way, that just made you laugh.
Alas, times change quickly with circumstances and distance becoming a challenge as we progress through life, pushing the good times further into the past, but time cant erase the love and memories we hold in our hearts for those who have touched us so deeply.
