PHILIP TERENCE CORRY (TERRY) – In his 90th year, on February 12th, 2017, Terry passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Terry, the brother of Julia, Peter, and the late Kathleen, is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Dorothy, and his three loving children Peter (Suzanne), Kathy, and Robin. Terry was exceptionally proud of his four wonderful grandsons - Joshua, Sean, Lucas, and Noah, and loved them dearly. Born and raised in the Mile End neighbourhood of Montreal, and proud of it, Terry’s work for BP and Petro-Canada led him to Toronto with Dorothy and his children. An early leader in the then new field of Information Systems, Terry helped to establish one of the first computerized credit card systems for the oil industry and thrived in his work in the data management field. Known for his fairness and integrity, Terry is also remembered for his wonderful sense of humour. His puns, his jokes, his stories, and his ability to laugh at himself were endearing to all. He was a favourite uncle of his nieces and nephews, a loving grandfather, a devoted husband, and an irreplaceable father. He has filled our lives with goodness, laughter, and love, and we are forever grateful.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the oncology and palliative care unit at North York General Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care. Gifts in memory may be made to the Freeman Centre for Palliative Care through the North York General Hospital Foundation.
A private service was held last Friday to celebrate the man we so loved.
