Tuan Cao-Huu

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tuan Cao-Huu on September 8, 2026 at the age of sixty-eight. Tuan died at his home in Thornhill, Ontario surrounded by his wife of 36 years, Beverley Murray, beloved sons, Alexander and William, and devoted dog, Sandy. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Tich “James” Cao (Vee), Tri Caohuu (Mylien), and Hinh “John” Caohuu (Kim Chi), by his sister, Khanh Caohuu, by his nephews and nieces, Christopher, Christine (Kowloon), Tuyen, Sube (Tran Ngoc), Misha (Darren), Cathy (Cuong), Minh (Michael), Quynh (David), Judy, and Aarin, and his extended family, friends and colleagues. Tuan is predeceased by his parents, Triem and Nhu Le (Nguyen) and brothers, Hao and Uyen.

Tuan, born in Hue, Vietnam, was a dedicated researcher and educator who held degrees in mathematics, physics, medicine, and electrical engineering. He had been on the faculty of Glendon College, York University, since 2002, where he taught computer science in both French and English. He loved to teach, juggle his many laptops, play piano, sing folk songs, recite poetry, and quote the philosopher, Jean-Jacques Rousseau. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. The family requests donations in his honour be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
