Sending condolences to Wilf's children and his extended family. Through Trillium and countless social and fraternal events over more than four decades, it has been a pleasure to get to know Wilf and his young family and to see them flourish. He'll be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

My condolences to Barry, Michele, Stacy, Dave, Angelica, Christina, and Barry.

I have such good memories of my Uncle Wilfred. I always felt so much love and warmth from him when I would get to see his smiling face, hear his welcoming words, and enjoy his sense of humour. I treasure the visits with my mom, Ingrid, to see Auntie Joy when Uncle Wilfred was also there during those difficult days. I greatly appreciated spending precious moments with him and speaking to him while we all showed our concern for Auntie in her time of need. I also value the first time I visited his home with my parents after the global situation that began a few years ago and finally got to see him in person again. I missed him after all that time.

Whether hangouts at the back of the house, meals in the dining room, or chatting into the night in the living room, the home he shared with Auntie Joy was at the centre of so many family gatherings, conversations, and memories. Whether it was those of us living here in the north, those visiting from south of the border, or relatives flying in from the Caribbean, their home was a meeting place for so many of us. When Auntie Joy went to sleep, the sun was setting on this era, and now with the passing of Uncle Wilfred, sunset has come. One chapter has ended and another has begun.

I am thankful that God blessed Uncle Wilfred with many active years, a large loving family, and supportive friends. I am grateful to be a part of this family and to have known Uncle throughout my life. I am also thankful to God for using him to be a blessing to others. 

Yes, another important person in my life has gone to sleep, yet I am focused on his positive contribution to the lives of those around him, the joyful memories from over the decades, and the fact that now he is at peace. He has run his race and now the LORD has seen it fit to give him rest. 

May Our Everlasting Father comfort all who are mourning this loss.

Just wanted to offer my deepest sincerest condolences and apology for what has happened. Uncle Wilfred will be sorely missed when I was a kid and came up to Canada to visit I've always had the most fun with him. I hope and pray that God provides healing and comfort to your family as well as hope that one day we will all see him again. Uncle you will be missed. Your light heartedness, love of family and ability to be cool under pressure will be attributes I will cherish. Your loss is immense and my most enduring memory was sitting around the table to eat Sunday lunch with my sisters. You were visiting and we as young kids were talking amongst ourselves and you quieted us by commanding that when you sit at the table eat and don't talk. When I worked at the Ministry of Transportation my acclimation was made so much easier because everyone knew you and had only good things to say about you. I have so many great memories of you and our times together. Love you.

Both Jean and I would like to send our condolences to Wilfred's family and siblings. Remembering the young Wilfred as an engineer at the Point-a-Pierre oil refinery Vista Bella, San Fernando, Trinidad he was always well turned out, dapper with a center path in his hair. A no nonsense gentleman.  We, the De-Vlugt's and the Skeet s lived as one great family in our youthful days, playing in the guava patch behind their home inTrinidad.  And today, I can  say, although we have been separated by years and miles, " out os sight did not necessarily meant out of our hearts and minds. Rest in Peace Wilfred.  Eugene.

My  dear uncle Wilfred,  you were my one in a million, words can't express my emotions right now. I missed our video calls where we chatted and laughed about the silliest things. My Dear Uncle Wilfred, 

After dad passed away, you came and took care of us. There were many times when the car needed fixing and you were there to help without even questioning it. Anytime, any day. And I’d come out to help you.  Tbh I was only holding the light, but I would watch you and you’d teach me things, like how to start a car with a screwdriver.  To this day I’m still waiting for the opportunity to try this trick.  But you did so much more.  You got me a summer job right out of high school working for the Ministry of  Transportation. That job put me through university. You were always welcoming, peeping from behind the curtain at the back door and inviting us in for some tea.  But most importantly you were always there to give me a big warm hug and a kiss when I needed it the most.  You were so  much like a father to me and I thank you Uncle for all the guidance, all the laughs, all the advice, all the cookies annd tea, and all the love that you had to give. I miss you Uncle Wilfred and will never forget you and all the great times you shared with me.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of my darling uncle Wilfred from my youth to the present.
I remember your handsome face, your laughter, your diplomacy,  your jokes, but mostly all your advice. You were a genius, you were very  informative on any topic one could imagine, you were a walking encyclopedia, as a child I was always attentive when you spoke directly to me or to others, I was always anxious when I went by Mammy in San Fernando, every summer and Christmas, you would lift me up with that lovely smile on your face and tickle me, threw me up into the air making me laugh, I love you so much Uncle Wilfred and would miss you dearly, am happy I was able to talk to you for Easter and on your last birthday this year, I would forever cherish you in my heart, rest in peace with mom and your other siblings, love you always and forever

We called him Uncle Wilfred, and he and Auntie Joy were our family.  My dad and Uncle Wilfred were like two peas in a pod, working together, but more than that they were the best of friends.
So many memories of family picnics, New Year's parties, Christmas eves, and just weekend drop ins at the Skeete house.   
When I told my family of his passing, they all remember him on their visits to Canada, as a gentleman, a giant among men, caring and very helpful, funny and very kind.  
Anyone that got to know him, we carry him in our hearts.
To all his extended family, May you find comfort in the days ahead through your memories of him.

He will be very much missed as a valued bowling member of the Trillium Bowling league, by running and organizing the league with his few other members by keeping track or our monies and prizes.  Wilf was such a nice gentle spirited soul! May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.  My thoughts are with his family.

My dearest uncle Wilfred I will miss our chats which started after 11pm at night. You never had a harsh word even when you didn't agree with some things we discussed.  And boy did you have a sense of humor.  I pray that the angels guide you as you make your transition where you will be with your loving wife aunty Joy and your loved ones which preceeded you. My Uncle Wilf! 💞
There are so many happy memories from my childhood that has my Uncle Wilf in it. As well as an adult.  
When I was younger, Uncle Wilf would call the house and tell dad “let me speak to my daughter!” this continued through to an adult and our most recent conversation. And I loved to hear that. Dad and Uncle Wilf were brothers in every sense of the word. Imagine my shock to find my last name was not Skeete! Stacy, Michelle, Barry all my extended family, I share your grief. 
To know my Uncle was to know that smile. To know that laugh… and to know you were never alone. Especially if your car broke down. I don’t know how many times I called my uncle before I called dad to help me with my car if it broke down. Why? Because I knew calling dad would result in him saying “call your Uncle Wilf and tell him to call me.” My Uncle was first on the scene. Faster than any tow truck!! I would try and help my Uncle because as a young girl, I learned how to fix cars from him and dad. But, as an adult he would tell me to sit in the car and stay warm. 
Uncle Wilf, my heart hurts so much I never got to see you to tell you everything that you mean to me. I love you so much and I miss you. 
Who’s going to take pictures? All of your nieces and nephews will miss your love… and taking the best photographs at our momentous occasions. I laugh because your pictures were always better than the professionals we all hired lol. When you captured those moments for us, it was the greatest sign of love. You were always there for us to ensure memories were solidified in pictures. Love you Uncle Wilf…

My heart goes out to my cousins, Michele, Stacy, and "Big Barry". 

I have so many fond memories of being at the Skeete's house. I could probably write a novel. 

What will always stick with me is when Uncle Wilfred and I became "Kelly - haha" and "Uncle - haha". I no longer remember when it first came up, but it all had to do with the sense of humour we both had together. And whenever we saw eachother the first thing we'd both do is laugh.  

Even though I know that we all will leave this earth at some point, those I've lost including my mom, Uncle Wilfred and anyone before them, I always thought would be invincible. 

I am now visualizing all those we've lost getting together in heaven/the after-life (whichever you prefer or believe in) having a party with yummy food and enjoying it to the fullest with no suffering.  Good Bye for now "Uncle- haha", I will see you later (much later).

I am thinking of all of you at this time of great loss: Barry (big), Michele, and Stacy, Angelica, (little) Barry, Christina, and all those who loved Wilfred, as I did.  He was always so lovely and caring towards me.

Barry, Michele, and Stacy, you took such excellent care of both of your parents as they aged and in their final days.  I know that you have created beautiful memories with them, and that they were very proud to have you as their children.

Wilfrid was a gem of a man, unique, fun, interested in so many things, and always ready to help anyone. When I received the news that he was gone, the first thing that came to my mind was being in the back seat of his car, as he was driving, one morning in the fall of 1969, or the spring of 1970, on an expedition to the Lion Safari. It was the day I first met him.

Beside him was his Wife Joy, sister of my girlfriend Merle who was with me in the back seat. In a second car driven by Wilfred's close friend Vincent Gillon (they worked side by side), were Vince's wife Helen and their first daughter, "wee Elanor".  Wilfred and Joy's children - Michele, Stacy and Barry, were all there, but I'm not sure who was in which car. It was the first time I met everyone.

I had no idea then that those of us in those two cars would become the centre of a long lasting friendship triangle, with additions coming along the way, some not yet arrived from Trinidad, some not yet born.  In the decades to come, there would be times when all of us would be together – new Years for example - celebrating not just the new year but our ongoing togetherness.

It's sad that the leaders of that long ago expedition, the six adults, are all gone now, other than me. The little group is now a bigger one, more spread out, something much more than a triangle now. But I think I speak for all of us who are still in it, or related to it in any way, when I say that the passing of Wilfrid is a big moment in our lives

"My uncle Wilfrid was a lovely man who helped me many times, and who  I have looked up to all my life. I want to express my deepest sympathy for all members of his family, and tell them that I regret not being able to attend his funeral due to my own disabilities. "

Memories of Uncle Wilfred

My Uncle Wilfred and Auntie Joy were constants in my life that go back to my childhood. I have treasured memories of when they got married; my cousin and I getting to spend the holidays with them in San Fernando, before they had children of their own; family vacations at Mayaro Beach (Trinidad); and other precious childhood memories from before they decided to emigrate to Canada. Later on, I also moved to Canada and had many more good times with them.

Yes, they will always be a part of my life. 

And now Dear Uncle Wilfred is asleep in PEACE. I look forward to a grand Reunion, with All of our loved ones when Our Lord Returns.

I had the priviledge of a personal acquaintance with Wilfred through the bowling league.
