John Martins, age 88, of Modesto, California passed away on Monday September 10, 2018. He was born October 16, 1929 in Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Acores to Madalena Emila Martins and Manuel Martins Gonçalves.
John is survived by: his wife of fifty years Bernardette Martins of Modesto; son David Martins (Olivia) of Ceres; son Frank M. Martins (Nancy) of Escalon; brother Raimundo Martins Gonçalves of Manteca; sister Maria Alfare of Seattle, Washington; sister Lourdes Azevedo of Modesto; and sister Teresa Oliveira of San Jose; as well as his grandchildren Frank Martins Jr., Andre Martins, Briana Martins, and Pedro Baptista.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Madalena Emila Martins and Manuel Martins Gonçalves.
A visitation for Mr. John Martins will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. A recitation of the rosary followed by a funeral mass will occur at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church: 709 J Street, Modesto, California. He will be laid to rest immediately after the services at St. Stanislaus Cemetery: 1141 Scenic Drive, Modesto, California.
