

Services for Cicero Odell Strickland, 95, of Tyler are at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mark Edge officiating. Visitation will be at 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Tyler. He was born May 2, 1927 in Cayote, Texas, to the late Julius Gamalial Strickland and Sarah Iola Newsome Strickland. Odell served in the U.S. Army and worked for Amoco Corporation for many years, where he met Mary. He was an expatriate for the company and worked in Abu Dhabi and Argentina. He also worked in Chicago, Houston, Levelland and Midland, to name a few. He traveled all over the world. He moved 16 times in his lifetime.
He was a member of the Shiloh Road Church of Christ, Bullard Church of Christ, and Broadway Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, and by eight siblings, being the last of nine children.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Strickland of Tyler, his son, Greg (Cynthia) of Buffalo, TX, by his daughter Debby (Andrew) Benton of Edmond, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, Hailey, Chris, Sarah-Kate and Samuel, two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Colton, and many nieces and nephews.
Odell was a past volunteer at Hospice and the family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Tx. 75701
