Dale Robert Groat, age 82, passed away January 2, 2014. He was born in Melvin, Michigan, at home, to Vaughn and Francis Groat. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joan Groat, on October 31, 2007. He served in the Army as corporal from September 12, 1952 to August 27, 1954. He moved to Tyler in 1986 and owned his own business until 2011.
He was the loving father to Lori Price, Gary Groat and his wife Debbie, Jill Miller and her husband Martin, Randy Groat, Todd Groat and Chris Groat. He was a devoted grandfather to Paul Groat, Amber Smith, Tabitha Price, John Price, and Joey Price and great-grandfather to Hanna Price, Koner Smith and his two cats, Tom and Lexie.
Visitation will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler, Texas 75701 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2014. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM in Cathedral in the Pines at 7825 S. Broadway, Tyler.
