Eldon “Sonny” McEntire of Ben Wheeler, Texas, passed away Wednesday evening, April 3. He was born July 26, 1936, in New Gulf Texas. He received his diploma from Boling High School in 1954, completed several courses at Brazosport College, and received an Associate in Arts Degree from Wharton County Junior College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Kansas, Maryland, and Germany from 1959-1962. In 1992 he retired from Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas, after 30+ years. He was a faithful member of Tyler Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Tyler Texas.
Mr. McEntire loved working with his wife at their home doing yard work and gardening, but he loved growing “his grapes” the most. He was so proud of his family; he loved them all dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Preceded in death by his parents James & Maybelle McEntire, and his brother, Dwain McEntire.
He is survived by his wife Maxine McEntire; daughter and son-in-law Mike and Rhonda Littlefield; daughter and son-in-law Tim and Rachel Riggle; stepson and wife Robert and Terri York; stepson and wife Michael and Bridget York; brother Billy McEntire; sister-in-law Sally McEntire; brother-in-law Spence Mayne; brother-in-law Thomas Mayne; sister-in-law Opal Weaver; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous other family members.
Pallbearers: Grandsons Luke Coward, Ryan Daniels, Kris Prince, Adam Riggle, James Wangler, Dean York, Lyn York and family friend Tom Winchell.
