Howard was born in Havana, Alabama on October 28, 1933 to Melton and Lucile (Epperson) Johnson.
He retired from Tyler Pipe in 1997 after 43 years. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed working around the house. Howard especially loved listening to Bluegrass Music with Jean. He always welcomed you with a smile to sit and talk and, of course, bragged on his grandsons every chance he got.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jean Johnson of Tyler; son Wayne Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; daughter Wanda and husband Reggie Harris of Longview; daughter Patricia and husband Keith Stribley of Lindale; grandchildren Logan and Jason Harris of Dallas; sister Judy Faye Thompson of Jacksonville; brothers Jesse Latner and Walter Earl (Karin) Latner of Jacksonville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 29 at 2:00pm in the Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bruce Rudd officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral In The Pines.
Pallbearers will be Logan Harris, Jason Harris, Reggie Harris, Wayne Johnson, Walter Latner, and Keith Stribley.
