

Funeral services for Joe Massey, 86, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Woodville Baptist Church in Woodville, MS.; the same church that he and his beloved wife were married in 60 years ago. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Massey passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Tyler.
Mr. Massey was born April 10, 1925 at the Dixie Gardens Plantation, near Hazlehurst, MS. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Mechanical Engineering through the Navy V-12 program and then spent his entire working career holding various managerial positions at the Chevron Oil Company in Mississippi and southern Louisiana. At his retirement party he remarked that he could not envision a happier working career than his had been!
Joe absolutely loved playing the piano, especially when surrounded by friends who were singing along. He made beautiful furniture out of oak and cherry in his very perfectly arranged woodworking shop. He was an avid reader; especially of British history. Joe loved life to the utmost!
He is survived by the love of his life; Huldah Leake Massey of Bullard; his daughter, Jo Dobbs and husband Gary of Bullard; his sons, Mark Massey and wife Beth of Whitehouse and Gary Massey and wife Cindy of Pensacola, FL. Grandkids include Amanda Moyer and husband Scott of Orange, TX; Wayne Massey of Pensacola, FL., April Massey of Dallas and Lara Massey of Dallas. Great-grandkids include Kylie and Tye Moyer of Orange, TX.
