

Michael Partin Taylor, age 76, of Plano, formerly of Houston and Tyler, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of February 6, 2013 at the Belmont at Twin Creeks in Allen. Michael was born on April 3, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas to Alex Franklin and Sibyl Ruth Partin Taylor; they preceded him in death. After graduating from high school, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves. While serving his country, he attended the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering. Michael married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ida Kelly, in New Orleans on August 4, 1956. After 54 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories, his beloved Elizabeth passed away on August 28, 2010. Michael was a National Construction Manager for Dow Chemical for more than 28 dedicated years. He and Elizabeth were active members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tyler. During his working years and beyond, Michael was a member of Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Texas Professional Engineers, St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Alpha Pi Mu Fraternity, and he served as Chairman of the Houston Business Roundtable. He was a National Rifle Association Endowment Member, a Life Member of the Texas State Rifle Association, and a member of the Ruger Collectors Association. In his free time, Michael had a deep passion for target shooting and photography but those who knew him best will always remember Michael’s first love was always his loving wife Elizabeth and the rest of his cherished family.
Michael is survived by four children, Michael S. Taylor of Houston, Patrick D. Taylor, and wife Mitzi, of New Orleans, Colleen Moreland, and husband Lance, of Littleton, CO, and Erin Davis, and husband Patrick, of Plano; one sister, Barbara Stevens; and by 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and host of other relatives and very special friends.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Taylor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler with Bishop Joe Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Austin Davis, Kevin Fitzgerald, Dean Harmon, Patrick F. Kelly, Eric Mitchell, and Frank Pryor serving as pallbearers. Clarence Elmer will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
