

Renee Hood DeLeon, age 43, of Dallas, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, October 15, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 26, 1969 in Tyler to Roy Hood and the late Jeane Hood. Renee earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Texas at Arlington and unselfishly served in her life-long mission of teaching in the Dallas ISD as a 7th grade math teacher. Renee had a servant’s heart and a mother’s love that truly impacted the lives of so many around her. She made seven mission trips to Belize and tirelessly spent hours and hours beyond those expected to help the students she so proudly taught. Renee was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. To those who were privileged to know her, Renee was a courageous fighter in her battle with cancer, a dedicated and loving mother, daughter, sister and friend, and a servant of the needs of those around her.
Renee is survived by her beloved son, Erick; father, Roy Hood of Tyler; siblings, Linda Sondag, and husband Gene, of Grand Prairie, Bill Hood, and wife Jinny, of Irving, Kathy Franklin, and husband Scott, of Tyler, Buster Hood, and wife Oralia, of Tyler, and Peggy Seals, and husband Colbert, of Midlothian; and by 11 nieces and nephews, 7 great-nieces and nephews, and one on the way.
Services for Renee Hood DeLeon will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Dr. Darryle Dunks officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery with Scott Coleman, Corey Mitchum, Troy Seals, Greg Sikes, Steve Sikes, and Richard Sosa serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
