Toni Baker Cox from Tyler, Texas went peacefully to her heavenly home to join her parents, brothers and son on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the age of 79, surrounded by her devoted husband and children. Toni was born in Atlanta, Texas on June 22, 1943 and was raised in the country just outside of Linden, Texas. Toni was the baby of the family, being the only girl born to a family of four brothers. She attended school in Linden .
She was a homemaker until her youngest child started kindergarten. She then became a hostess at Los Mochas Mexican Restaurant, was a caregiver to 2 families, a waitress at Amy B’s Eatery and the last 15 years at Talbot’s clothing store. Toni was a Cub Scout den mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her children.
Toni was actively involved for many years in her TOPS group, going to many conventions and weekend workshops. Toni was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for many years. She loved to travel with her husband all over the United States. She adored her family, and found joy attending every function that her grandbabies and great grandbabies participated in.
Toni will always be remembered for her smile, her laugh and her compassion. She became a second mom to so many that came through her door through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stanford and Cora Baker, brothers Mickey Baker, Phillip Baker, Kenneth Jack Baker, and Billy Drew Baker, infant son Don Baker Cox, and son in laws Jerry Gentry and Danny Bishop.
Toni is survived by her loving husband of 62 years William B. Cox, son Mark Cox and wife Sheri of Whitehouse, daughter Karen Lynn and husband Bobby of Tyler, daughter Staci Nash Bishop of Flint, and daughter Jennifer Whitney Griggs and husband Kenneth of Tyler .Grandchildren Randall Morgan, Amberlee Davis and husband Brandon, Garrett Lynn and wife Laura, Kaylee Schmidt and husband Chris, Jacob Nash, Austin Nash, Jackson Gentry, Aiyana Boyce and husband Walter, Brian Griggs and Zachary Griggs, her great grandchildren Madicyn and Wesson Davis, Kason, Rylan and Cheyenne Morgan, Nolan and Olivia Batty, Oaklynn and Kiley Schmidt, Rayleigh and Silas Lynn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended and adopted family. Pallbearers are Randall Morgan, Garrett Lynn, Zachary Griggs, Austin Nash, Wesson Davis, Chris Schmidt, Michael Baker, and Walter Boyce.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m at Lloyd James Funeral Home at 1011 E. First Street , Tyler. The funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. also at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
